Nantes, France - December 8, 2016: The iconic towering yellow crane in the old ship yard and now converted to a tourist area as the shipyard closed. In the background can be seen the city of Nantes..... Nantes is located near the Atlantic ocean, at the very beginning of the Loire estuary. The Loire is tidal in Nantes, and tides can still be seen around 30 kilometres (19 miles) further east. The city is built on two confluences. The Erdre flows into the Loire on the north bank, while the Sèvre Nantaise flows into the Loire on the south bank.
