To get to the Ming Dynasty Tombs you walk a kilometres long path through a beautiful park, called the Sacred Way or Divine Road, that on both sides is adorned with ancient sculptures of animals and warriors. They are there all with their own special meaning, but in general to protect and defend against evil influences. My picture shows one of these sculptures , a beautifully carved and decorated lion.
