$Small-dot Anemone Crab or Porcelain Anemone Crab Neopetrolisthes maculatus (ex. Neopetrolisthes ohshimai) occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific in a depth range usually from 5 to 20m, max. size 7cm, average size 3cm. The non-territorial species lives as a couple or alone, protecting its eggs from nearby predators. Porcelain crabs are filter feeders and they filter water with their mouthpart appendages (known as the third maxillipeds) rather than using their antennae. \nThis specimen was encountered in a Merten's Sea Anemone Stichodactyla mertensii in the Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia\n1°28'47.196 N 125°14'12.42 E at 17m depth$

$Swimming Crab or Harlequin Crab Lissocarcinus laevis occurs in tropical Central Pacific in a depth range from 9-82m. The size of the carapace is max. 3cm. \nHarlequin crabs are predators, that eat shrimps and other tiny planktonic organisms, as well as leftover food from their hosts. \nThe last hind legs are larger and flatter than the other ones. This is typical for crabs of the Portunidae family, the swimming crabs. With these flattened hind legs, they are capable of swimming through the water column, when the need arises. However, like most swimming crabs, Lissocarcinus laevis prefers to keep its feet firmly on the seafloor, or on its host for that matter. \nThis specimen was encountered in the Lembeh Strait, Indonesia.\n1°28'47.196 N 125°14'12.42 E at 10m depth$

$Soft Coral Crab or Dendronephthya Crab Hoplophrys oatesii occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific in a depth range from 1 to 90m, max. size of the carapace is 2cm. \nThe species lives on various species of Dendronephthya, camouflaging itself by mimicking the colours of the polyps among which it hides. \nIt adds further camouflage by attaching polyps to its carapace (like this specimen). The colors can be white, pink, yellow or red. They vary depending on the colour of the coral. The first pair of legs has small claws. The body is similar in appearance to the host coral and has sharp spines with a red and white pattern.
