Salsify (Tragopogon porrifolius) is a non-native plant to Washington State. It typically produces yellow flowers that are daisy-like in appearance and can range in color from bright yellow to pale yellow. The flowers have multiple petals and a central disk, like other members of the daisy family. The blooming period for salsify typically occurs in late spring or early summer, depending on the specific climate and growing conditions. After the bloom dies off, salsify has a large seed pod that is similar in appearance to dandelion but much larger. This salsify seed pod was photographed at Lake Wenatchee in the Wenatchee Forest near Plain, Washington State, USA.
