Lobster on the reef in Maldives
The Caribbean spiny lobster (Panulirus argus) is a species of spiny lobster that lives on reefs and in mangrove swamps in the western Atlantic Ocean. It is the most important food export of the Bahamas, and rivals the shrimp industry in the Florida Keys in commercial value. They are eagerly sought by both commercial lobstermen and sport divers in South Florida, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, and Bermuda.\n\nThe Caribbean spiny lobster is a large lobster, with an average carapace length of 15-20 cm (6-8 in) and a weight of 1-2 kg (2-4 lb). The carapace is a dark brown or reddish brown color, with a series of forward-projecting spines. The antennae are long and whip-like, and the tail is smooth and fan-shaped.\n\nThe Caribbean spiny lobster is nocturnal, and spends the day hiding in crevices in the reef or in burrows in the sand. At night, they emerge to feed on a variety of marine invertebrates, including crabs, snails, and worms.\n\nThe Caribbean spiny lobster is a popular seafood item, and is often cooked and eaten whole. The meat is white and firm, and has a sweet, delicate flavor.\n\nThe Caribbean spiny lobster is a valuable resource, and is managed by a number of countries in the region. In Florida, there is a season where the spiny lobster may be taken, usually from the beginning of August to the end of March, to protect the species during its main breeding season.

The Spotted Ascidian Shrimp Periclimenaeus sp. occurs in the Indo-Pacific region, including Indonesia. Shrimps of the genus Periclimenaeus are known for their symbiotic relationships with various marine invertebrates, particularly ascidians and sponges. Periclimenaeus shrimps typically inhabit the internal cavities of their ascidian hosts, where they find both shelter and food. Unlike some solitary ascidians that have large siphons or internal spaces where shrimps can hide, Botryllus is a colonial ascidian, forming encrusting mats with small inhalant and exhalant openings. This means the shrimp lives on the surface of the colony not inside it. By mimicking the color and texture of the host, the shrimp uses the colony's structure as camouflage against predators.\nColonial ascidians, or sea squirts, are sessile marine invertebrates forming colonies of interconnected zooids that share a common tunic. They filter feed using specialized siphons and reproduce both sexually and asexually, often via budding. Among them, Botryllus species form striking colonies with awesome zooid arrangements. While ecologically important as filter feeders and habitat providers, some colonial ascidians, including Botryllus, can become invasive, impacting ecosystems and fouling marine structures. \nLembeh Strait, North Sulawesi, Indonesia \n1°28'47.814 N 125°15'1.26 E at 20m depth
