Males patrol marshy ditches, reedy lakesides and other lush, calm waters.\nField characters: Tot 62-66mm, Ab 47-54mm, Hw 39-45mm.\nHabitat: Ditches, marshes, ponds and lakes with rich vegetation. Favours swamps of Water-soldier (Stratiotes aloides) in most of its northern range.\nFlight Season: May to August in most of its range, most abundant in June; earlier than most Aeshnia.\nDistribution: Widespread but very local in much of its range, especially in south-west, often numerous where present. \n\nThis is not a very common Species in the described Habitats in the Netherlands.$
