The facade is from the 19th century in neo-Gothic style. Next to it is Giotto's bell tower and, at the top center, part of Brunelleschi's dome. At the time of the photo, partial restoration work was underway. Tourists and worshipers can be seen at the bottom and in very small size.

The dome is the symbol of Florence, of Renaissance culture, and of all Western humanism. The dome was built to a plan by Filippo Brunelleschi, and is still the largest masonry vault in the world without reinforcements in wood, since none could have sustained a cupola of this size.The dome is covered in terracotta tiles, marked by eight ribs in white marble: these converge towards the seraglio. The ring at the top, in turn supporting the large lantern.

The magnificent Florence Cathedral, or Duomo, stands as a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, its intricate marble façade adorned with shades of green, white, and pink. Flanking it is the tall bell tower, designed by Giotto, which reaches toward the sky with its elegant proportions. At the center of this grand ensemble is the imposing entrance, complete with detailed statues and biblical scenes.
