Cosimo I de' Medici was the Duke of Florence and the first Grand Duke of Tuscany. Florence is the capital city of the region of Tuscany. The majestic equestrian statue of Emperor Marcus Aurelius Augustus dominates the center of the Campidoglio (the Roman Capitol Square), in the historic heart of the Eternal City.
