$Tulip tree or poplar tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) is large deciduous tree, native to eastern North America, but can be found in Japan as well. It grows to 20-30 meters tall. It is noted for its cup-shaped, tulip-like flowers that bloom in late April and early May. The flowers are greenish-yellow with an orange band at the base of each petal.\nIn Tokyo, you can find them as street trees as well as in some public parks.$
