Fort Alexander I off Kotlin Island, Russia. Kotlin Island is an island in the Gulf of Finland, connected to mainland Russia by two causeways, punctuated by a tunnel to allow shipping through. The main town is Kronstadt, a heavily fortified town built to protect the city of St Petersburg. It is still home to part of the Russian navy but many of the defences are crumbling. Fort Alexander is the old plague fort and is built on an artificial island.

Fort Peter I, also known as The Citadel, off Kotlin Island, Russia. Kotlin Island is an island in the Gulf of Finland, connected to mainland Russia by the St Petersburg Ring Road along the St Petersburg Dam, punctuated by tunnels to allow shipping through. The main town is Kronstadt, a heavily fortified town built to protect the city of St Petersburg. It is still home to part of the Russian navy but many of the defences are in a state of decay. Fort Peter is joined to the island by a causeway.
