Bodies of dead people being cremated at the pyres of the Manikarnika ghat in Varanasi India. This is one of the oldest ghats of the city and the only one with Harishchandra were bodies are cremated according to the hindu tradition and their ashes and remains thrown to the Ganges river. If a person dies in Varanasi it is believed that it attains Moksha and is free of the cycle of reincarnation. Sadhus, pregnant women, children and those that have dies because of the bite of a cobra are considered pure and their remains don't need to be burned so they are immersed into the river with a weight.
