Catedral de San Cristobal de La Laguna, La Laguna, Spain, Europe - December 15th 2025: An image of the exquisite Baroque pulpit carved in white Carrara marble, a prominent artwork inside the Cathedral of San Cristóbal de La Laguna on Tenerife. Created by the Italian sculptor Pasquale Bocciardo and completed in Genoa in 1767, the pulpit rests on a dramatic base featuring a kneeling angel or putto. The richly carved basket includes panels depicting the four Evangelists — Matthew, Mark, Luke and John — shown in dynamic, theatrical poses. An elegant curved staircase with a light green and gilded handrail ascends to the pulpit from the right. The artwork stands in striking contrast to the massive grey columns of the Neo‑Gothic nave. The church is rather new; the construction ended in 1915, and it is considered one of the first buildings in Spain to use concrete. It replaced an older, unsafe church. The new church inherited its status as a cathedral from the former building.
