It is a body of water 4 km long and has an inner diameter of 3.10 m. \n\nIt is formed by the waters of the Apulco River and you can take a boat ride and enjoy the delicious regional dishes that basically consist of trout and carp.\n\nOne of the natural phenomena that has made this dam famous is that every year during the rainy season from May to September, you can enjoy a unique 40-minute ride where you can admire a large number of fireflies while navigating the dam.\n\nYou must remember that when visiting these sanctuaries you must respect the rules which is that you cannot make excessive noise and do not use flash or lamps, and of course do not capture them, nor throw garbage.\n\nThis is an incomparable natural spectacle where you can see how these small insects emerge from the shadows of the trees accompanied by the songs of crickets and cicadas.
This image captures the scenic Chapora River in Goa, a waterway that winds its way through various towns and villages, reflecting both the natural beauty and the vibrant local culture of the region. Boats of various sizes and purposes can be seen moored along the riverbanks or gliding across the water, ranging from small fishing boats to larger vessels designed for river cruises. The photograph also highlights the towns that line the river, each offering its own unique blend of architecture, from traditional Goan houses to more modern structures. The image aims to give viewers a comprehensive view of life along the Chapora River, showcasing its role as both a natural resource and a hub of local activity.
Phalacrocoracidae is a family of approximately 40 species of aquatic birds commonly known as cormorants and shags. Several different classifications of the family have been proposed, but in 2021 the IOC adopted a consensus taxonomy of seven genera.[
Unlike its similar seagoing cousins, the Neotropic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) can thrive in an arid climate as long as there are ponds or wetlands with small fish and amphibians for the cormorants to eat. Unlike most birds, cormorant feathers get wet when they dive for fish so they need to dry them out before they can fly efficiently. After fishing, cormorants perch on a branch or log with their wings outstretched in the sunshine. This pair of neotropic cormorants was photographed at Walnut Canyon Lakes in Flagstaff, Arizona, USA.

The Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is a large wading bird common near open water and wetlands in North America, Central America, the Caribbean and the Galápagos Islands. It is the largest of the heron family native to North America. Blue herons are distinguished by slate-blue colored flight feathers, long legs and a long neck which is curved in flight. The face and head are white with black stripes. The long-pointed bill is a dull yellow. The great blue heron is found throughout most of North America from Alaska through Florida, Mexico, the Caribbean and South America. East of the Rocky Mountains herons are migratory and winter in the coastal areas of the Southern United States, Central America, or northern South America. Great blue herons thrive in almost any wetland habitat and rarely venture far from the water. The blue heron spends most of its waking hours hunting for food. The primary food in their diet is small fish. It is also known to feed opportunistically on other small prey such as shrimp, crabs, aquatic insects, rodents, small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and birds. Herons hunt for their food and locate it by sight. Their long legs allow them to feed in deeper waters than other waders are able to. The common hunting technique is to wade slowly through the water and spear their prey with their long, sharp bill. They usually swallow their catch whole. The great blue heron breeds in colonies called rookeries, located close to lakes and wetlands. They build their large nests high up in the trees. This heron was photographed while hunting in Walnut Canyon Lakes in Flagstaff, Arizona, USA.
