Strands of Kelp on a beach in the Falkland Islands. Kelp are large seaweeds (algae) belonging to the brown algae (class Phaeophyceae) and are classified as the order Laminariales. There are about 300 different genera. Some species can be very long and form kelp forests.

Here in Schooner Gulch State Beach, I captured the mystical motion of the waves as they crashed against intricate clusters of barnacle-like life living on the coastal rocks. This shot specifically shows the interesting details of the coastal features and how beautifully the water crashes and washes over them.
