It has been filmed and photographed countless times over the years. If a movie producer was looking for a landscape that epitomizes the Old West, a better location could not be found. Bryce Canyon National Park is an American national park located in southwestern Utah. The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon, which despite its name, is not a canyon, but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks.

From this overlook, you’ll see many of the park’s most famous rock formations and even out to the Kaibab Plateau (where the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is located). From north to south you can see: the Aquarius Plateau (Pink Cliffs), the Kaiparowits Plateau (Grey Cliffs), Molly’s Nipple (White Cliffs), and even glimpses of the Kaibab Plateau on which lies the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Enjoy views of hoodoos, fins, and caps and pick out the different layers of the Grand Staircase.

Eagle Mesa is a prominent geological feature located north of the Arizona – Utah border near Monument Valley. While it may not be as famous as some of the iconic buttes and mesas in the Monument Valley area, it still offers impressive vistas and is a part of the striking desert landscape that characterizes this region. Like many of the rock formations in the area, Eagle Mesa is composed of sandstone, which has been sculpted by erosion over millions of years, resulting in its distinct mesa shape. The entire Monument Valley region, including Eagle Mesa, is culturally significant to the Navajo Nation. It is home to the Navajo people, who have lived in the area for centuries. The landscape features prominently in Navajo mythology and tradition. Eagle Mesa and Monument Valley are north of Kayenta, Arizona, USA.
