The bay of Paleokastritsa, Island of Corfu, Greece. Corfu, or Korkyra, lies to the west of the Greek and Albanian mainland and separates the Adriatic from the Ionian Seas. Largely formed from Limestone, the island measuring some thirty miles by 18 miles is now a tourist destination, known for its beaches, climate and olives. Medieval castles and ancient ruins chart the military history of the island back to ancient Greek mythology.
