Kalambaka, Greece - July 12, 2019: People visit the Meteora in Central Greece The flat valley in the north of Kalambaka, south of the Pindus Mountains, rises vertically. The monastic life began in the 11th century with the first monks who came to these columns reminiscent of paradise with the aim of retreating from Tessera in Mount Athos in a convenient place. In the 14th century, Meteora's Blessed Athanasios came to this area and came across the first monastic society in the Supreme Meteoron monastery. A total of 20 monasteries were formed, along with other monks from other corners of Greece.
