Unlike the artificial island of Our Lady of the Rocks, Saint George Island is natural. It houses a 12th-century Benedictine monastery and a historic cemetery where many of Perast’s nobles were buried. The island is closed to the public, but its dark cypress trees and centuries-old structures give it a mysterious, iconic silhouette in the Bay of Kotor.

The Church of Our Lady of Remedy is a historic Roman Catholic church located in Kotor, Montenegro. Perched on the slopes of the San Giovanni Fortress, it offers panoramic views of the Bay of Kotor and the old town below. Built in 1518, the church was dedicated to the Virgin Mary as a place of solace during times of plague and hardship. Accessible only by a steep hike up a stone stairway.

Petrovac, Serbia - August 20, 2025: The old church of the Medieval Gornjak Monastery. This is a 14th-century Serbian Orthodox monastery.

Our Lady of the Rocks is a man-made islet near Perast in Kotor Municipality, Montenegro, located in the Bay of Kotor. Built over centuries by local seafarers who dropped stones into the sea, it was founded on a crag where a Marian icon was discovered in 1452. The island features a 17th-century Roman Catholic church, rich with votive offerings and art, and is the site of the annual fašinada festival, where boats continue the stone-laying tradition. It is the only artificial island in the Adriatic and a major religious and tourist site.
