Mount Evans, Clear Creek County, Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, Colorado, USA: Rocky Mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus) on a crest, silhouetted against the sky. The mountain goat's feet are well-suited for climbing steep, rocky slopes with pitches exceeding 60°, with inner pads that provide traction and cloven hooves that can spread apart. The tips of their feet have sharp dewclaws that keep them from slipping.

Zion National Park

The Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus), also known as the Rocky Mountain Goat, is a large-hoofed ungulate found only in North America. A subalpine to alpine species, it is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on cliffs and in meadows. This Mountain Goat was photographed near Ingalls Pass in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness of Washington State, USA.

Had to climb up to 11,000 feet to reach the home of these mountain goats. They live in extreme conditions but have few if any predators at these elevations. Their biggest cause of mortality is actually avalanches.

Billies will have a on the back, have longer horns and beards and will simply appear thicker than a nannies. Their natural habitat includes southeast Alaska, western Canada and the northwest USA (up to Washington state, western Montana and Idaho). At 4,350 meters (14,264 feet), Mount Evans is the highest and most famous mountain in the Front Range, a mountain range of the Rocky Mountains.
