I took this photograph of a female Grizzly Bear and her cub near the coast of British Columbia, Canada. The two bears had just finished eating a Seal and you can see traces of blood on the nose of the Grizzly Bear. I was on a boat nearby as I captured this image. \n\nI was with a local guiding company at the time who ensured we never disturbed the wildlife, and we did not interfere with their natural habitat.

A black bear takes advantage of the spawning salmon. Tired and warm out, these fish do not put up much of a fight. The fish are easy pickings for the bear. The bears of Valdez, Alaska have many fish to chose from.

Steller sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus), also known as as Northern sea lions live in the waters that surround Alaska, such as the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands, and the Gulf of Alaska, including Prince William Sound. Steller sea lions are pinnipeds, making them relatives harbor seals.\nSea lions may be seen in Valdez most easily from the Solomon Gulch Fish Hatchery on Dayville Road, where they are often seen eating salmon.

Brown bears can be distinguished from American black and polar bears by their distinct shoulder hump, dish-shaped face, and long claws. They can vary in color from black to blonde. Brown bears, also known as grizzly bears, can be found in many of our national parks. Annual salmon migrations drive the bears to the river to fish as the salmon swim up river to their spawning grounds.
