A nudibranch during feeding in Gökova gulf in Turkey
The Nudibranch Tryon's Hypselodoris Hypselodoris tryoni (ex. Risbecia tryoni) occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific Ocean from Tanzania to the Society Islands and Indonesia to Japan and the Philippines, max. length 10cm. This species, like all the members of the order Nudibranchia, are simultaneous hermaphrodites with this mating behavior: Both individuals darts their penis toward each other to induce one to act as a male and the other as the female. The victorious one to penetrate the body wall is the dominant male. \nThis specimen was encountered in the Lembeh Strait, Indonesia. \n1°27'39.69 N 125°14'33.342 E at 17m depth

Nakari, located on the southern coast of Egypt, is an off-the-beaten-path diving destination in the Red Sea, known for its rich underwater biodiversity. One of the most fascinating creatures that divers often encounter in Nakari’s vibrant coral reefs is the nudibranch, a type of colorful sea slug renowned for its stunning appearance and striking patterns.\n\nNudibranchs are soft-bodied mollusks, often brightly colored with intricate markings, making them a favorite among underwater photographers and marine life enthusiasts. The Red Sea is home to various species of nudibranchs, from the vibrant blue dragon to the purple-striped varieties. Their colors can range from deep blues, purples, and yellows to brilliant oranges and reds, often designed to warn predators of their toxicity or to blend into their surroundings.\n\nIn Nakari, nudibranchs can often be found on coral reefs and rocky outcrops, feeding on sponges, algae, and small invertebrates. They move slowly and are often hidden in crevices, making them a delicate and exciting find for divers.\n\nThe shallow waters around Nakari offer excellent visibility, allowing divers to spot these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. The reefs are teeming with marine life, making it a fantastic spot for underwater exploration.\n\nFor divers visiting Nakari, discovering nudibranchs adds a touch of wonder to the already captivating experience of exploring the Red Sea’s coral ecosystems.
