Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria - July 19th, 2019: God of Thunder devotee display his traditional gun to symbolize Ogun Goddess during the Olojo Festival.\n\nThe Olojo festival commemorates the descent of Oduduwa to Ile-Ife, the celebration of the first dawn, the first afternoon, and the first night of creation. That makes the Olojo festival, one of the oldest in Africa, celebrated all over Yorubaland. It celebrates the dawn of the first day of existence on Earth. There is a parallel between this and the Judeo-Christian theology of creation, conceived with the divine proclamation: “Let there be light.”

Ojude Oba, started over 100 years ago as a religious festival by the followers of the Muslim faith, a way to celebrate the Eid al-Kabir.  Over time it has attracted people of all faiths and tourists in and out of Nigeria. Usually held on the third day after the Eid al-Kabir, in Ijebu Ode , a town in Ogun State in Nigeria.\nVarious peers and age groups pay tribute to the King (Awujale of Ijebu), they are dressed in various colourful attires to pay respect to the King. It is a very glamorous and colourful festival. Lots of dancing in their colourful cultural attires (aos ebi), horse parade and  cultural dances.  During the festival, there are intermittents gun shots.
