Culturally, camels embody Mehri identity, featuring in oral poetry, festivals like racing events, initiation rituals for young boys learning herding and milking, and tribal codes emphasizing kinship, mediation, and Sufi-influenced Islamic values traced to ancient 'Ad peoples. In modern times, despite challenges from climate, mechanization, urban migration, and external influences, camels remain vital —acting as status symbols with rising market values, buffers against conflict, and key to animal husbandry alongside goats and sheep.
