The Greater White-Fronted Goose (Anser albifrons) is a migratory bird that breeds in interior Alaska, the North Slope, western Northwest Territories and most of Nunavut. They migrate down the Pacific coast, through the Klamath Basin and northern California eventually wintering in the Central Valley of California. The male goose is typical larger in size than the female. Both sexes are similar in appearance. They are gray brown birds with light grey breasts. The breast has dark brown or black blotches and bars. They have a pinkish bill with orange legs and feet. The summer diet of the greater white-fronted goose includes sedges, grasses, berries, and plant tubers. During the winter they eat mainly seeds, grain, and grasses. This greater white-fronted goose was photographed standing in front of some Canada geese at the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge near Olympia, Washington State, USA.

L 74-84cm, WS 149-168cm.\nBreeds in variety of habitats, mainly wetlands, from shallow lakes with reed beds and freshwater marshes to islets in larger lakes, coasts (even brackish water), heather, rocky slopes, etc.\n\nDutch breeders mainly resident, most others migratory. Since the impoldering of the IJsselmeer in the seventies, the Greylag Goose were increasing in numbers. Only Grey goose to be seen in large numbers in summer in Europe and the Netherlands in the described Habitats.\n\nThis is a very common Species in the described Habitats in the Netherlands.
