Australian pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus) is a large waterbird widespread on the inland and coastal waters of Australia, New Guinea, Fiji, parts of Indonesia and as a vagrant in New Zealand. It has been recorded as having the longest bill of any living bird.

This pelican could fly away, but seems to enjoy spending time on the shore of the Monkey Mia Reserve in Western Australia where there is plenty of food and attention from adoring tourists.

This is a very large and distinctive black-and-white pelican with an enormous bill with characteristic throat pouch in which it catches fish before swallowing the fish. The species is usually found near water, both marine and inland waterways. The birds become reasonably tame around boat-ramps and fishing spots.
