Flowers white, with a mass of pale yellow anthers, 100-200mm, held at water level, with 20 or more petals, fragrant; buds rounded. Stigmas greenish-yellow. Fruit a spongy capsule.\nHabitat: Lakes, ponds, dykes and deep ditches, slow-moving streams and rivers, in fresh, often nutrient-rich waters, rooting on muddy bottoms to a depth of up to 3m. Flower Season: June-September. The Flowers open in bright daylight.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe, except the Faeroes, Iceland and Spitsbergen. Widely cultivated. \n\nThis is a quite common Species in the described Habitats in the Netherlands.$
