Inflorescence a spreading panicle, the numerous unawned, , usually dark purple spikelets with 2-10 florets and long silky hairs along the axis.Habitat: Fens, marshes, swamps, ditch sides, freshwater or brackish margins, damp clayey slopes.Flowering Season: August-October.Distribution: Throughout Europe.This is a common Species in the Netherlands in the described Habitats.
