Rhea

The Lesser Rhea is a large flightless bird. It is sometimes known as Darwin’s Rhea, named after the famous naturalist and evolutionist as he used the Rhea to demonstrate his theory of evolution. The feathers of the Rhea are similar to those of the ostrich.The sharp toed claws are used as effective weapons. It is extremely agile and can reach speeds of up to 40mph, enabling it to escape many predators. It is essentially a herbivore. Their habitat is grasslands and scrub land of South America. Good copy space.

The Rhea is one species of the same superorder of flightless birds (ratites) that includes the Australian emu and the African ostrich, as well as the Greater Rhea's smaller cousin, the Lesser Rhea.
