Quickly, 10,000 people crowded to the town, but within a decade Rhyolite began to fade because of a national financial panic, and only 600 people still lived here in 1910. At left in the Cook Bank.

Rhyolite is a ghost town in Nye County, in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is in the Bullfrog Hills, about 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas, near the eastern edge of Death Valley. The town began in early 1905

John S. Cook Bank building, Rhyolite, Nye County, Nevada, ghost town. Built in 1907, the bank opened just as a nationwide financial crisis began and by 1910 the Cook bank was closed. However the building is one of a very few in Rhyolite that are at least partially standing.
