Elden Pueblo is the site of an ancient Sinagua community that was inhabited from about 1070 AD to 1275. The site is unique in that it is thought to have been part of a trading system. Trade items such as macaw skeletons from Mexico and shell jewelry from the California Coast have been discovered. The site is managed by the Coconino National Forest. Elden Pueblo is near Flagstaff, Arizona, USA.

Sudfan, Hawf district, Al Mahrah Governorate, Yemen: the Mahrat Mountains, also known as the Hadhramaut or Mahra Mountains, form a prominent range in eastern Yemen, extending contiguously with Oman's Dhofar Mountains and characterized by a Precambrian basement of the Arabian Shield, including metamorphic rocks such as quartzites, schists, gneisses, and amphibolites from the Aden Metamorphic Group, overlain by volcanic sequences of the Tha'lab Group and lightly metamorphosed conglomerates, limestones, and sandstones of the late Precambrian Ghabar Group. The overlying sedimentary stratigraphy encompasses Jurassic formations like the Kohlan sandstones and Amran Group limestones and marls, Upper Jurassic evaporites of the Sabatayn Formation forming salt domes, Cretaceous Mahra Group limestone-marl facies with clastic elements, and Paleocene to middle Eocene Hadhramut Group limestones, marls, and evaporites, with total thicknesses up to 6-8 km in the Jiza-Qamar Basin. Structurally, the mountains exhibit fault scarps, folds along the Hadhramaut arch, and extensional features tied to the Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous rifting during Gondwana's breakup—reactivating northwest-southeast Najd faults—and subsequent Oligocene-Quaternary Gulf of Aden rifting, resulting in steep southern cliffs adjoining the coastal plain and gentler northern slopes toward the Rub' al-Khali desert, with hydrocarbon potential in Upper Jurassic Madbi shales and Cretaceous reservoirs like the Mukalla and Fartaq formations.
