The Spotted Bush Snake (Philothamnus semivariegatus) is a fascinating and graceful creature that captivates with its slender, agile body and vibrant green hue. Native to the woodlands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa, this non-venomous snake is a marvel of nature's design, perfectly adapted to its arboreal lifestyle. Measuring between 60 to 130 cm in length, the Spotted Bush Snake is characterized by its striking coloration—an iridescent green with faint, scattered black spots that provide effective camouflage among the leaves and branches. Its large, expressive eyes give it an almost endearing appearance, belying its keen predatory instincts.\n\nThis elusive serpent primarily preys on small lizards and frogs, employing remarkable speed and precision to secure its meals. Despite its formidable hunting skills, the Spotted Bush Snake poses no threat to humans and is known for its timid and reclusive nature. It often escapes detection due to its ability to remain motionless for long periods, blending seamlessly into its leafy surroundings.\n\nIn the wild, the Spotted Bush Snake plays a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance by controlling the populations of its prey. Unfortunately, habitat destruction and fragmentation pose significant threats to its survival. Conservation efforts are essential to ensure that this splendid reptile continues to thrive in its natural habitat. The Spotted Bush Snake stands as a testament to the intricate beauty and diversity of the natural world, deserving admiration and protection for generations to come.

The Caspian whipsnake (Dolichophis caspius, sometimes also Coluber caspius) also known as the large whipsnake (among various other species in genus Dolichophis/Coluber), is a common species of whipsnake found in the Balkans and parts of Eastern Europe.\nDescription:\nThe Caspian whipsnake is perhaps the largest species of snake in Europe. It typically grows to around 140–160 cm in length, though a few may exceed a length of 200 cm. The record sized specimen was approximately 250 cm. Body mass can be commonly from 120 to 673 g. This species is not venomous and is mostly active during the day. The head is joined to the body by a thick neck. Its pupils are round. Nineteen rows of smooth scales can be found at the middle body, though rarely there may be seventeen. Dorsal scales each have two apical pits at the posterior edge. The center of the scale is lighter in colour than the edges. The dorsal side is grey-brown and features markings which are distinctive in juveniles and young snakes but fade with age. The ventral side is light yellow or white (source Wikipedia).\n\nThis Picture is made during a Vacation in Bulgaria in May 2018.
