Yangon / Rangoon, Myanmar / Burma: The Sule pagoda or paya, known in Burmese as the Kyaik Athok Zedi, is a temple located in a downtown roundabout. The pagoda is known for the octagonal shape of the base, which is carried over to the golden dome. During the British period, the city center was completely restructured and the pagoda served as the center. Since then, Sule Paya has served as a reference for kilometer distances to the north of the country. The temple has four entrances, oriented towards the four cardinal points. According to tradition, some Buddha 's hair is preserved inside.

Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, also known as Golden Rock, is a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site in Mon State, Myanmar. It is a small pagoda (7.3 m (24 ft)) built on the top of a granite boulder covered with gold leaves, pasted on, by its male worshippers.According to legend, the Golden Rock itself is precariously perched on a strand of Buddha's hair. The balancing rock seems to defy gravity, as it perpetually appears to be on the verge of rolling down the hill. The rock and the pagoda are at the top of Mt. Kyaiktiyo.
