The Elk Thistle (Cirsium eatonii) is a thistle native to Jackson Hole in Wyoming. As its name implies, elk feed on this plant. It is also called Everts Thistle after Truman Everts, a member of the 1870 Washburn–Langford–Doane Expedition, who explored the area that later became Yellowstone National Park. Everts became lost and survived for a month by eating the elk thistle. This elk thistle in bloom was photographed at Oxbow Bend in Grand Teton National Park near Jackson, Wyoming, USA.
