American bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus) ultra close, female. Note the bullfrog's distinctive ridge curving around the ear. In females, the ear or tympanum is about the same size as the eye, while in males it is noticeably larger. Females also have a pale yellow throat (bright green in males). The bullfrog, known for its very deep call, is the largest North American frog. Females grow larger than males.
