The Liberty Statue or Freedom Statue is a monument at the end of the Citadella on Gellért Hill in Budapest. It commemorates those who sacrificed their lives for the independence, freedom, and prosperity of Hungary. In 2025 a large Christian cross was added to the statue's base. The two base statues are a man slaying a dragon , and the other is of a man with a torch. The monument was designed by Zsigmond Kisfaludi Strobl and was built 1947.
