$A small group of leaves on two tiny new growth branches sprouting from the trunk of a large but distressed pin oak (Quercus palustris) tree. This tree had extensive root damage about two years ago due to very close by construction excavation; and recent weather-related shock during an unusually hot and dry summer (2011). Several major branches up above have died completely.
