Bladder Senna (Colutea arborescens) is a drought-tolerant shrub native to southern Europe, including Montenegro, where it thrives on rocky slopes and dry hillsides. Recognizable by its inflated, papery seed pods and delicate, rounded leaflets, it produces yellow, pea-like flowers from late spring into summer. A member of the legume family, it enriches poor soils by fixing nitrogen. Though mildly toxic and not used medicinally, it’s valued for erosion control and ornamental appeal in Mediterranean landscapes.
