The Ring-Tail Cardinalfish (Ostorhinchus fleurieu) is a small, colorful marine fish belonging to the cardinalfish family. They are commonly found in tropical coral reefs of the Indo-Pacific region, including Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands. They are nocturnal and often form schools during the day, feeding on zooplankton, small fish, crustaceans, bristle worms, and invertebrates. These carnivorous fish are known for their ambush predator behavior, hiding in benthic habitats such as sandy bottoms and coral reefs to catch their prey. They have a distinctive ringed tail and are considered an attractive species for aquariums.
The Wobeegong is a very rare sight for scuba divers since they are timid and usually found in deeper waters.
