This hot spring is 42 feet (12.8 meters) deep and known for its distinctive 'crest'. While typically a hot spring, it occasionally erupts like a geyser. Initially described by the Hayden Geological Survey in 1871, it was officially named Crested Pool in 1927. In 1970, nine-year-old Andrew Clark Hecht tragically fell into the spring and died, leading to the establishment of the Andrew Clark Hecht Memorial Public Safety Achievement Award to honor contributions to public safety.
