Burchell’s zebras (Equus quagga burchellii) drinking in the Tarangire National Park in Tanzania. Also known as damara zebra, this zebra is named after the British naturalist William J. Burchell. One or two shadow stripes between the broad stripes on the haunch and a defined dorsal line distinguish this zebra from the other subspecies. The Tarangire NP is a semi-desert area, irrigated by the homonymous river, with abundance of wild animals, acacia and baobab trees. The Tarangire NP, like the Serengeti NP, is part of the world-famous annual massive migration of millions of wildebeest and zebras following the rains and fresh pastures.
