Foggy winter wilderness with fallen tree and schist boulder. Schist is a metamorphic rock that forms the bedrock in this area -- an oak-hickory-maple forest in Washington, Connecticut, in the rural Litchfield Hills. The fallen tree is a white oak, said to be one of the strongest trees.

May 17, 2021 - Grand River Township, Missouri, USA: This rock, called Preacher's Rock, and cultivated pecan orchard are part of Adam-ondi-Ahman, owned and maintained by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  This is a sacred spot for church members. Joseph Smith prophesied this would be a gathering place in the last days. This shot was taken on a wet spring day with cloudy skies in the background but lush greenery covering and surrounding the site.

Close up views of a deciduous boreal forest in Belfountain, Caledon, Ontario, Canada. This is the headwaters for the watershed of the area. There is a lot of limestone rock. Cedars, spruce, oak, birch, maple, ash and beech trees grow here. The Bruce Trail runs through. This is summer. Dappled sun shines through to the forest floor. This is a sensitive ecological area and it is protected by the Niagara Escarpment Commission. Wander along the trails through a forest that is clean, bright, pleasant, natural and untouched. You will pass by many moss covered rock walls and boulders.  Everywhere you turn is green and you can feel the depth of the forest and the sense of space around you.
