Leaf linear to lanceolate, opposite toothed or almost untoothed, half clasping the stem; with translucent gland-dots. Flowers white , veined and tinged with purplish-red. 10-18mm, tubular 2 lipped, the lower lip 3-lobed, borne in leafy racemes.\nHabitat: Wet places, meadows, marshes, river and stream banks, ditches.\nFlowering Season: May-October.\nDistribution: Belgium, Holland, France and Germany. Melastoma affine, also known by the common names blue tongue

Iju (Scientific name: Schima liukiuensis), native to Okinawa and the Amami islands, Japan, is an evergreen tree in the family Theaceae. The leaves are oblong and glossy, centering at the ends of branches. It produces five-pedaled white flowers in spring, with numerous yellow stamens, with fruits being produced in autumn.

Melastoma malabathricum, known also as Malabar melastome, Indian rhododendron, Singapore rhododendron, planter's rhododendron and senduduk. Despite its common names, it does not have any connection to actual rhododendrons. This plant is native to Indomalaya, Japan and Australia. It has been used as a medicinal plant in some parts of the world.

The beaked Stewartia is a deciduous, ornamental, multi-stemmed shrub or small tree. The plant may reach a height of 13 to 33 feet tall and 8 to 13 feet wide. White Camellia-like blooms appear from May to July, and the red woody beaked capsule fruits appear in September. The bark has furrows and ridges, and unlike the Chinese Stewartia, it does not peel. The plant is a member of the Theaceae family and is related to the Camellia. This low-maintenance plant is grown for its ornamental value.
