This fortress, now a museum, was the HQ of the imperial German colonial force and was built, after being designed by Captain Curt von Francois, from October 1890. Alterations were made until 1915. After World War I, South African troops assumed control of the fort, and in 1935 it was turned into a hostel for the nearby high school. In 1957, the fort became a national monument and was refurbished in 1963 from which point it became the national museum.

Luena (Luso), Moxico province, Angola: Luena railway station - The Benguela Railway is a major rail line in Angola, stretching from the Atlantic port city of Lobito to the eastern border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Originally constructed in the early 20th century, the railway was designed to facilitate the transportation of minerals, particularly copper from the Congolese and Zambian mines, to the coast for export. The railway spans over 1,300 kilometers, crossing diverse terrains and serving as a vital link between the interior regions of Angola and international markets. After years of disruption due to the Angolan civil war, the Benguela Railway has undergone significant rehabilitation and modernization, restoring its role as a key artery for trade and commerce in the region.
