$Triphyllozoon inornatum is a colony of Bryozoa, of tiny microscopic celled animals that live in a soft membranous cell. Tiny tentacles protrude from an opening to catch plankton. Triphyllozoon inornatum colonies occur in 15 to 45m depth, max. size about 15cm. \nColonies of bryozoans are rooted to the substrate and vary greatly in form. They filter plankton with their tentacles and many, such as this one, secrete a calcerous skeleton. Because of these similarities, they are often mistaken for corals, but they actually belong to a completely different phylum. $Colonial ascidians, or sea squirts, are sessile marine invertebrates forming colonies of interconnected zooids that share a common tunic. They filter feed using specialized siphons and reproduce both sexually and asexually, often via budding. They form striking colonies with awesome zooid arrangements. \nThe small holes are inhaling pores. The large holes surrounded by white areas are the exhaling orifices. \nWhile ecologically important as filter feeders and habitat providers, some colonial ascidians can become invasive, impacting ecosystems and fouling marine structures. \nA well camouflaged Clear Shrimp at the left side: In the sea there are three ways to be invisible against any background: red and black only work at night, transparency always works.
